Harnessing 21st Century Solutions: A Focus on Women

The last few decades have seen enormous advances for women around the world. However, there is still much to be done to ensure political and economic opportunity is afforded equally. At the 2012 Club de Madrid conference, speakers from around the world engaged in active discussion with a focus on ensuring greater political and economic opportunity for women. Specific topics included human trafficking, workplace equality, harnessing technology, recourse access, as well as peace and security. The annual Club de Madrid conference convenes over 90 democratic former Presidents and Prime Ministers as well as thought leaders from around the world to discuss issues of global importance and develop innovative solutions.
Jamie spoke on the panel “How can societies ensure women’s rights to access and control of natural resources,” which also featured Mary Robinson, Former President of Ireland and Sadiq Al-Mahdi, former Prime Minister of Sudan among other leaders in the field of women and environment.
This two day event took place on December 17-18, 2012 at the Clinton Presidential Center in Little Rock, AR.
